The Swimmer — FINA Prize Eminence

$10,000.00Price
Quantity

The work depicts a swimmer in forward motion as he is propelled through the water, with precise anatomical realism and defined musculature. His left arm reaches forward while his right hand trails behind, and a turbulent spray at his feet suggests the strength of his kick. Affixed to a wooden base by a flat bronze base plate, the antique green patina enhances the aqueous element. Artist: Edmond Schumpert Year: 1984 Medium: Bronze Dimensions: 8 x 7 x 19 Style/Genre: Classical; antique green patina applied throughout Edition: 2 Provenance / story notes: This was one of a handful of sculptures commissioned by Hopping from Edmond Schumpert. The archive includes the artist’s portfolio, behind-the-scenes looks, and copious documents, letters, and photos related to this and other awards’ creation, presentation, and administration.
